The EPA’s 2010 fuel-economy ratings are out and, as one might expect, nine of the top 10 vehicles on the agency’s best fuel-economy list are gas-electric hybrids. There’s a big reason for this total domination: There are more electrified machines to choose from than ever before. The Toyota Prius and Honda Insight aren’t the only games in town. Everyone from Ford to Lexus to Mercedes is offering a hybrid, and they come in almost every size and shape. In fact, of the 32 models tested for this year’s fuel-economy guide (which can be found at www.fueleconomy.gov), almost all are offered with an energy-efficient hybrid drivetrain.
